St. Charles Regional Chamber Joins National Coalition Urging Senate Action on Permitting Reform
The St. Charles Regional Chamber has signed onto a national coalition letter led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce calling on the U.S. Senate to advance comprehensive permitting reform through the Permit America to Build initiative.
The coalition letter emphasizes that America’s current permitting system is overly burdensome, fragmented, and vulnerable to costly delays that stall critical projects for years. These obstacles are slowing the construction of essential infrastructure — including transportation networks, energy facilities, manufacturing investments, and broadband expansion — undermining economic growth and America’s ability to compete globally.
The coalition is urging Congress to modernize the permitting framework, improve coordination among agencies, reduce duplicative reviews, and provide greater certainty for projects that have already undergone extensive evaluation. Without reform, vital investments will continue to face unnecessary roadblocks, delaying job creation, supply chain improvements, and infrastructure upgrades that communities depend on.
By joining this national effort, the St. Charles Regional Chamber is advocating for bipartisan solutions that accelerate investment, support business expansion, and strengthen the economic foundation of communities like St. Charles County.
The Chamber will continue working with partners at the local, state, and national levels to advance policies that remove barriers to building and position our region for long-term growth and competitiveness.
